Thin-film cells
Thin-film cells are some 100 times thinner than monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar cells. They are typically made of amorphous silicon, copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) or cadmium telluride (CdTe). While they are less efficient than crystalline cells, they are less expensive to manufacture, requiring as they do less material and energy.
